Why I Love BlackMilk [Review]

Hi everyone

Sorry for the hiatus, I had finals and had a lack of ambition to do much before and a tad after them. But I will be posting more now!

So if you haven't read the title of this post, here is my review on BlackMilk Clothing.

This is a brand from Australia, and is pretty well known if you're on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. They are known for their shinny nylon goodness such as leggings, dresses, etc. They pretty much make the clothes you see a tumblr goddess in.

So the question is: What's so great about BlackMilk Clothing?

1.) Customer Service
When I bought from BlackMilk a few weeks ago, I filled in the little special request box before checking out asking for more stickers (I'm addicted and stuck these all over stuff in my room). When I received my order form when I got my leggings in the mail, Kelly who probably was the one who packaged my order hand wrote "Wish Granted" on it. I honestly have never had this happen with ordering online, and I was super impressed.  They also have staff answer questions on their Facebook page all the time if people are wondering about their products.

2.) Quality
Let me be honest here, there really is nothing compared to BlackMilk, and I yet to find a perfect dupe for their products. When you compare their galaxy leggings to some you can find at places like Forever21, there's a huge difference. For the price of your purchase, you are getting something high quality and durable. I have had my first purchase since May, and nothing has gone wrong and I literally wear them all the time. They have not over stretched, snagged, had stitching start pulling out, what have you. You also don't need to worry about your panties showing through them (which is a BIG problem for me when I wear my other leggings and it's not a cute style lol)

Both my pairs of leggings are opaque, and you can't see your legs through them no matter what. They are made from a thick material, yet neither to hot or to cold to wear in different climates.

3.) Original
The prints on BlackMilk Clothing are things you won't find anywhere else. Anytime I have worn my purple galaxy leggings out and about I've had people give me compliments on them, or ask to touch my legs (their products have this cool shinny look to them, it's pretty badass). You also don't see them around a whole lot, which is good for those who don't like having the same clothes as others.

They also have collections like Mass Effect, Adventure Time, Harry Potter, etc. So the prints are pretty popular within pop-culture.

4.) Fit
Im not gunna lie, once I had BlackMilk leggings, I have a hard time wearing other ones. They fit like a dream and hide a lot of areas you don't want being shown. They are a little tight, so they suck everything in (if ya get what Im sayin')

Here's me in both my pairs. I'm 5'3" and weigh about 130 lbs. I purchased a size Small in both.

mmm BlackMilk by lethalkitten

5.) Shipping
I'm always shocked at how fast I get these babies in the mail. It takes about 2 weeks for me to get them by choosing standard international shipping. I do live in the United States, so I don't know how long it would take for other countries (sorry)! I also do not have to pay customs on these when they arrive when I have chosen this option.

The only thing I do not like about choosing standard is that I do not get a tracking order number. This bugs me since it is being shipped in from another country, let alone continent. This is probably the only thing I hate about BlackMilk.

Shipping is also free, which is pretty rad!

When you receive your order, it comes in a durable, black, thick plastic, envelope style package that has the BlackMilk logo right on it.

So in all, if you're willing to pay the price for BlackMilk, it is definitely worth it. Seeing as though my leggings were both $67.05 USD (no tax), it's a pretty pricey item to buy. But if you're on the verge of getting an item from them, I'd say to do it, you won't be displeased!

+ Staple pieces you don't see everywhere
+ Free Shipping
+Great Quality for Price

+ No tracking number for Standard International Shipping

Drying Bird Feet and Wings

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

A few months ago, I was looking up something on chicken feet and realized how much of a lack of information there is on how to dry them so you can make crafts out of them.

So today, I'll share how to do it

How to Dry Bird Feet and Wings
What you will need:+ Something to dry such as a chickens foot
+ Plastic Container that you don't care about (Make sure it can hold the item you are trying to dry comfortably, without having to squish it or bend it.
+ Table salt
+ Scissors
+ Tweezers
+ Gloves
+ Rubbing Alcohol
+ Paper Towels
Please do not kill or harm an animal to use my tutorials. I am completely against killing animals for preserving their body parts.

1.) Preparation
First we need to get these babies able to be preserved.
Put gloves on and make sure you have cut the foot or wing off the dead specimen you are doing this for.

For feet, you can cut them at the hip or slightly farther down the leg, depending on personal preference.  If you are doing something like a chickens foot, make sure to pull out the tendon in the foot with tweezers.  PLEASE MAKE SURE TO BE WEARING GLOVES WHILE DOING THIS, YOU DONT KNOW IF THESE ANIMALS HAD ANY DISEASES.

For wings, cut at the base where the wing attaches to the body, and try to get as close as possible. Also watch out for feathers so be sure to be careful and take your time. Make sure to shake the wing and to get all the dirt out from it. Birds are very messy and sometimes roll around in dirt. So make sure you run your fingers through the feathers and kinda shake them around as you do so.

When cut off, put these on a paper towel.

2.) Getting ReadyIn preparation, take your plastic container and make sure it can house the item without bending, or manipulating it to fit. Something like a cottage cheese container, whipped topping, or sour cream container are perfect. You want to be able to fit the foot or wing in here with salt being able to completely cover around it.

Now take your scissors and carefully poke a few holes on the top...not that the foot or wing is going to come alive or anything.

Also prepare to have a lot of salt, make sure to have enough to fill the container, or at least for the item to be completely submerged in it.

3.) Saltin'Fill the container you chose, about halfway with salt and put your item in it. Now take and cover it completely with salt and put the lid on top of the container.

4.) Patience Makes PerfectNow here is where it sucks, waiting. Depending on where you live and your climate, let this baby dry for about 1-2 weeks. You can easily tell when it's dry, and if it doesn't look it....than well it probably isn't/

After it's dried, feel free to get creative. You could leave it natural, spray paint it, adorn it, or whatever your little heart desires! Google images, Etsy, eBay, and Pintrest are great places to look for inspiration!

The Perfect Black Lip

'Ello Everyone,

Since most people want that perfect red lip for the holidays, I thought I'd spice it up by making a post about the ever lipstick!

Black lipstick is my all time favorite. I love the way it looks, how white it makes my teeth appear, and let's be looks pretty bad ass if someone can pull it off without making it look like a hot mess.

My way of wearing black lipstick, is like wearing red. I do not like the whole eyeliner look that teenagers wear around......I'd rather have that high fashion style to it!

So here's the steps I go through, and trust me, this stuff won't budge.

1.) Moisturize
Like with any lipstick, it looks bad with chapped lips. So moisturize them beforehand!
I recommend putting a lip balm on a little bit before you do the lipstick so it's all soaked in. If it still feels like there is too much on, just grab a tissue and lightly wipe it off.

This is what I use:

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm in Peppermint (About $3)
Plus an added bonus is that this stuff is SPF 20

2.) Line
Like when applying any normal shade of lipstick, it's great to use a lip liner before applying the lipstick. By doing this step the lipstick won't feather, and it'll stay on all day. For this, you could use a black eyeliner, but just make sure you wipe the tip of the pencil off before using it on your eyes again!

Black Lip Liner:
NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Black Berry (Around $3.50)

An Eyeliner:

Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil in Jet Black (About $3.00)

3.) Lipstick Time
Now here is where it can get complicated. On the market there are many different black lipsticks to choose from. There are both high end and low end options. I personally use a drug store brand, so that's what I will be recommending in this post. Lime Crime Cosmetics and Make-Up Forever also have black lipsticks on the market if you would prefer high end.

This lipstick applies great by itself, or with a lip brush. If you want precise edges, I'd use a lip liner/ angled eyeliner brush.

My Favorite Black Lipstick:
Wet n Wild Fergie Creme Lipstick
Wet n' Wild Fergie Creme Lipstick in Pagan Angel (Around $3.50)

This stuff is amazing! It's long wearing, creamy, and doesn't look like a black lipstick from a gothic inspired Halloween make-up kit!

4.) Matte/Gloss
This is where you can decide whether you want matte or glossy lips!

For a matte effect, blot lipstick with a tissue.

For gloss, this stuff is the bomb:

Rimmel London Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in Black Diva (Around $4.00)

5.) Clean-up
Now to finish, take your concealer brush and some concealer and clean up the edges of your lips. This will also help with feathering and makes for a crisp and high fashion looking lip. Set concealer with face powder or translucent powder with a fluffy eye shadow brush for more control.

Make-Up Routine For a Fair Skinned, Acne Prone, Lady

Hi Everyone,

When I'm on youtube or googling for certain product reviews, I realize how hard it is to find make-up that will suit extremely fair people like myself. It's especially hard to find this at drugstores, and just in general. So for you ladies who are like me and can't even wear Mac NC 20 foundation since it makes you look like an oompa loompa got a spray tan, here's my recommendations and my routine.
MoisturizerApplying a moisturizer before applying make-up is a way to make your skin prepped for foundation and powders and helps with make-up application.

What I use:

Yes to Carrots Rich Moisture Day Cream Image
Yes to Carrots Day Cream (About $14.99)
GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing Cream - VALUE COSMETICS - GNC
GNC Vitamin C Moisturizing Cream ($1.99 )

FoundationThere are many different types of foundation you can use. For a lighter coverage you could use a BB Cream or tinted moisturizer. Personally, my skin needs full coverage because of acne, freckles, and scaring. You can apply this with either your hands, or a brush.

Revlon ColorStay Foundation in Ivory (Roughly $9.99 - $12.99)

Setting Powder Setting foundation is key to making it last all day with little or no touch ups. Make sure with powder that you keep it light, otherwise you could look like a cake face. Id recommend a large powder brush. Since I have super fair skin and look like a ghost, its hard for me to find a good foundation powder that doesn't look like a bronzer on my skin. This is a powder I randomly tried and have sticked with. Not only does it feel soft and such, but it blends well and doesn't make my skin look super dry like with other powders.

Maybelline New York Fit Me! Powder in 110 Porcelain (Roughly $5-$6)

BronzerFinding a good bronzer is hard, let me tell ya. Instead of using a powder, which usually has a slight shimmer, you could always put a foundation a tad darker than what you normally use, or a concealer to get that matte look. I personally prefer powder because of the look it gives and I like the application. I apply mine with an angled contouring brush, and I find it I use a brush like this, it really sculpts out my cheek bones and temples.

Physicians Formula Happy Boosting Bronzer in Light Bronzer (Roughly $13.95)

e.l.f Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder ($3)

BlushIf you have acne on your cheeks, Id skip this step. Not only would it emphasis it with the shimmer, but it would increase the look of redness. When applying, use a blush brush and follow the 2 finger rule ( apply blush 2 finger spaces away from the start of the apples of your cheeks and blend it in slightly with the bronzer, but with keeping them separate)

e.l.f Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder ($3)
e.l.f. Studio Blush
e.l.f Studio Blush in Tickled Pink ($3)

Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls Blush in Rose Pearl (Roughly $11.95)

Physicians Formula Happy Boosting Blush in Pink

How to Get and Maintain Long Healthy Hair

Hi Everyone!

Thought I'd make a post on long hair, since I never see anyone really talk about hair that's generally longer than mid back.

Below are the tips and tricks that I use to keep my hair as long as it is, and let me tell you it really is a lot of work, and more than one would expect.  These are all from experience, not read in a book, or by going to the doctor and getting medication.

My Hair

As you can see my hair is pretty long (almost 3 feet) and looks generally healthy for the length it is.

1.) Stay Healthy
I can easily say, this is the biggest thing among most. If you are depressed, not eating a lot, and getting sick.....chances are your hair won't be growing along with your nails. I know from experience when I lost a drastic amount of weight too soon, my hair wasn't growing and I was actually loosing it.

What I personally did to get the most length of my hair is by eating a lot of protein, drinking milk, and eating vegetables. Your hair and nails are excess protein in your body, and if you make sure you eat protein such as beans and meat, it might help to get the length. Just make sure you don't eat too much, because it isn't healthy!

2.) Taking Care Of Your Hair Right NowShampoo
Even though you want the length, you need to take care of your hair as it is! Make sure you wash it regularly, and get all the products out. I recommend using a clarifying shampoo once a week, and using a normal one every other time you wash and if you want you could use a dry shampoo in-between washes (I recommend the Suave one). For regular shampoo, I use suave naturals.
Remember also to condition your hair. I normally don't condition the roots, but every so often I do depending on how my hair is doing and if it's knotting up more. Try to make sure you condition the part where if you had a pony tail in and down from there. I make sure to condition my hair every time I wash it in the shower, just to make it tangle free and not so dry. For this I also use Suave naturals.
Heat Styling
Another note, try not to heat style! I would not heat style your hair regularly, because it can fry your hair. I only do my bangs because of the shape. But I rarely, and I mean rarely, ever curl/straighten my hair. If you want curly hair, you could always try pin curls, and they last a hell of a lot longer than heat styling. Another thing is, is that you could try is braids or putting it up in a top knot before you go to bed.
TrimsA good thing is to get regular trims. Try not to get a whole lot off, just the split ends...and I mean it never hurts to get a nice hair cut. This will also make your hair super soft and look healthy
Coloring/Dying/BleachingLet's just leave it at this, it's better to go darker than lighter. Lightening your hair (or bleaching) makes your hair dried out and can make it feel and look fried. (I used to have white hair, I know from experience). I haven't colored my hair in about 1 1/2 years now, and my hair is much more healthy now than it was when I dyed it a reddish brown that was darker than my natural color. If you want to dye your hair, go ahead, but I would say to go darker since it really won't be hurting your hair as much.

3.) Lifestyle
Lets face the facts right now, having extremely long hair is a bitch. Not only is it easily caught on things, sometimes more prone to split ends, and can take extra work to style. But, you have to make life style changes, to make sure you can get the length, and maintain.
SleepingTry making sure that you sleep on a silk pillow, this makes it so your hair won't tug as bad and break off. If you take a shower before you go to bed, try to only sleep with damp hair, and not have it soaking wet which will make it so it doesn't smell bad in the morning, and won't knot up as bad. Also, when you (or if you) tie your hair up at night, a cloth hair tie is a lot easier on your hair.
Being CarefulI can not say how many times I've caught my hair in the door, in my register at work, and just catch it on buttons on jackets. Make sure you are aware of your hair, so it wont break off if it gets caught on buttons, zippers, what have you.
WinterI can not stress this enough, do not go outside with wet hair! What happens is that the wet hair freezes, and when you go inside, it can break off from the frozen to hot transition.
SummerAnother thing with weather, especially warm weather is that it's not healthy to stay out in the sun! Everyone forgets that it's not just your skin that can be damaged. During summer, if you go outside, you can get a sunscreen protective spray for your hair. Though I hope everyone doesn't stay out too long, because sun damage is definitely not healthy for any part of your body.

4.) Time
We all forget that it takes time for things to happen, and that you can't become Rapunzel in a day. Finding a good healthy hair routine that works for yourself takes trial and error.

My Hair Care Routine
With all these being tips, and suggestions, here is my hair care routine.

+Wash hair every other day, using Suave Naturals shampoo and conditioner. I also use dry shampoo in between washes. Making sure to condition my hair a lot
+ No heat styling regularly, except bangs here and there
+Eat meat at least once a day, or a few times a week
+Trim once a month (just the ends)
+Sleep with a cloth hair tie
+Not sleeping with extremely wet hair
+Keep hair up as much as possible when not going anywhere
+No coloring/dying/treatments

Hope this helps all you ladies who want long hair

The Strange Only Get Stranger

Hey everyone!

I have been kind of busy for the last few days getting back to my normal schedule due to exams, and let me tell you it's quite nice.

After making a post on how to preserve animals and birds, I saw it was an interest or curiosity for many. For those interested in the weird and the strange here are some of my personal favorite things.

This has to be probably one of my favorite television shows I've seen in a long time. Not only do you get to see different oddities and such, but some episodes you can see someones personal collection. You can either watch this on Netflix or YouTube.
(Season 1, Episode 1, on YouTube)

Personal Collection VideosIf you're like me, you probably like to see the fascinating things people surround themselves in. I personally like seeing a personal collection because a lot of times people prefer certain things over other (skulls, taxidermy, insane asylum items, etc.)
Here are a few I have found interesting:

(Ryan Matthew, from Oddities)

(ladylockslife on YouTube.)
^This ones a favorite of mine, because she has a really great sense in decorating in my opinion.

(Sebastian Columbine on YouTube and Facebook)

(Mantisman630 on YouTube)

How To Make Dead Things Turn Heads

Hey everyone,

I just  realized how much lack of information there really is for preserving dead specimens and I thought I'd make a blog post about it. Since I live out in a wooded area, and look for dead animals, skulls, and bones, I thought I would make a post on how to preserve and fine one.

My tips on how to preserve a specimen into a jar (ex. animals and birds)

  1. 1.) Finding the creature.

Finding dead things isn't easy, let me tell ya. Most likely you will find them under things such as brush or leaves. This is because when an animal goes to a place to die, they will go somewhere where nobody can disturb them. Please don't kill an animal or any other living thing for the purpose of preservation, that's just cruel and disgusting.

2.) Checking the little guy out.
Make sure when you find your specimen that it's intact, no guts hanging, no insects trying to eat it, anything along those lines. The best is to get it when it just has passed, but like I said, please don't harm an animal for the purpose of this. You can also just be on the lookout for them, it takes time and patients to do this sometimes.

3.) Picking It Up.
Make sure when you pick up the specimen that you have gloves on, or pick it up with something other than your hands in case the specimen has a disease. Just to be safe! I have heard people putting freshly dead animals into a freezer until they know what to do with it, but it's up to you what you do.

 4.) Supplies Needed for Preservation.
Clean glass jar that you intend housing this cutie in. Make sure it's not to big or too small. Mason jars and pickle jars are pretty stationary, and you can find jars pretty cheap usually at thrift shops.
Rubbing alcohol (not peroxide, that will just wreck the specimen and won't keep it in tact). Make sure you get enough for the jar that you have. Can easily get this at the dollar store.

5.) Preservation Time!
Take your clean jar and place your specimen inside making sure you don't touch it with your hands! Next fill up the jar with rubbing alcohol up to the lip of the jar (part that doesn't have screw markings on it) and put the lid on it.
Optional: you can put a label on it and get creative!

6.) Put The Cutie On The Shelf!
Now you have a preserved specimen :)
Hope you enjoy

The Night Before Hallow's Eve

I can't believe that tomorrow is Halloween, it just seems like the year has came by so fast.

So to get in the mood, here's my Halloween themed song of choice.
(Ghost Town - Trick or Treat)

Since I'm in college right now, and have exams all this week, I haven't taken too much time to decorate, so I've been sporting cat ears all week and wearing Halloween t-shirts.

Now to figure out exactly what I'm going to dress up as tomorrow.
I may do Beetle Juice, a creepy zombie thing, or just do pin-up

But here's what I did last year if anyone is curious :)

Any who, what are your plans for Halloween?
I myself am thinking of going to my friends party for a bit, than going home to do more homework and studying (story of my life) lol

Pointe Ballet With a Twist

Yesterday I was on YouTube and came across this video of a ballet dancer doing a routine on top of a grand piano with kitchen knives attached to her pointe shoes.

I cannot tell you how much I love the raw emotion within her as a dancer, you can see her emotions and he r struggles, and that even if she's finding it difficult to stand, she can still do her routine without falling.

I think the concept of this is just immaculate, intriguing, and I can't seem to take my eyes off of it even after the third time watching it.

These are the shoes that she wore, aren't they beautiful?

With much love,

I Think I Have a Little Obsession With Dead Things

Hello Everyone,

I haven't really made a post about this, but I finally have found a butterfly dome piece!

I have literally been looking for these in antique shops for the past year or so and I finally came across one on my vacation to Chicago last weekend. I can't even explain how stoked I am over it!

On the bottom of this it says that the butterfly is a Byasa Polyeuctes "Chinese Cowboy" and is from Indonesia.

Here's a picture of what it actually looks like if it were to be spread out.

Do any of you collect these types of things? Seen them? or recommend on where to get them?

I've been trying my best to find preserved animals and butterflies but I think you have to honestly find the right shop in order to get them. I have also been looking on Etsy for the longest time, but I am so afraid of it getting damaged in the mail.

Dead Inspiration?

I don't know about you guys but I feel an absolute lack for inspiration for Halloween right now. From exactly today there is 7 days til the candy filled, diabetus starting, drunk adults holiday. I still have absolutely no idea as to what I really want to dress up as. I feel like doing a grotesque pin-up themed zombie, but than again that's becoming cliche.

Here are some photos I've kinda been mesmerized over for the past few days.

(Make-up by @mini_makeup_x)

(Make-up by Lori Anne Allison)

(Make-up by Batalash)

(Make-up by MadeULook by Lex)

I really think I'm going to mash them together somehow. I for sure want to do some sort of staple like technique or one that looks like stitches. I had this idea a few days ago where I would make real looking stitches and put a pop-art like look in the middle to make it almost look like I was a cartoon character covered in human flesh that was breaking away. But than again I almost want to do something bloody and messy, and just flat out disgusting yet you can't take your eyes off it cause it's so weird. Blah so many decisions!

Do you guys have a costume planned out already? If so what is it? Im lacking in the creative department at the moment.

Why Hello There New Blog

Hey Everyone,

Today will be the day where I finally will start a blog. I can't describe how curious and excited I am about it! I've been wanting to do this for so long but really never knew where to start, so I'm going to take a stab at it and see how it goes.

Where's my manners, I forgot to introduce myself.

I go by Kitten, but if you would rather call me by my first name, it's Breyonna. So call me whichever you prefer. I am an 18 year old internet addict who has a little obsession with cats and make-up.

In my blog I will hopefully keep it towards
  • Make-up
  • Reviews
  • Fashion
  • Showing and demonstrating different art techniques
  • Photography
  • and a little random things here and there

I hope to stay to these main things, but don't underestimate me trying to "spice things up" here and there just for the fun of it :)

Hope you all have a lovely week!
