Apricot Eyes - Colourpop Viper Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick Review!

Apricot Eyes
Colourpop Viper Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick  Review

This look is inspired by Apricots and fall colors. This year I have been very inspired by orange and berry shades, especially around this time of year. This look features a orange smokey eye with touches of burgundy and dark brown along with a golden highlight. I followed up with this beautiful Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade Viper to bring out the purple shades in my shirt. The inner corner highlight is Colourpop's Super Shock Eyeshadow in the shade Fringe, which matches beautifully with the necklace I paired with it.
Hope you enjoy this fall inspired look :)

Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Viper Review:

A few months ago I received Viper as a gift with purchase after making my very first Colourpop order. I was very excited to try it being that the swatches showed it as a gorgeous raspberry/plum shade that is perfect for fall.
The things I like about this lipstick is how opaque it is. This lipstick in particular only needs one coat to be opaque on the lips and is not streaky or patchy when applied. I also love the Colourpop lip wand and found the doe foot applicator to be very precise and easy to use. It gave me the crisp lines that I was looking for, unlike a lot of liquid lipstick applicators. It reminds me a lot of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick's doe foot applicator, which is a favorite of mine. It's also only $6 which is a wonderful price.

As for what I don't like about this lipstick is how drying it is. There is no way around to making this extremely comfortable on the lips. It didn't flake while wearing it, but it made my lips feel like the Sahara Desert until I took it off. It wasn't unbearable by no means, but I definitely could feel it on my lips so be aware of that. Another disadvantage to this lipstick is that it stains horribly. You will have a medium pink stain to your lips for around a day.

To wear this lipstick comfortably I would recommend exfoliating your lips beforehand. You can easily make a DIY scrub mixing an oil (such as olive oil or coconut oil) with brown sugar. I would also apply a lip balm heavily for 15-20 minutes before wearing this lipstick. Make sure to wipe it off before application of the lipstick. My favorite lip balm as of now is the Smith's Rosebud Lip Salve in the original flavor/scent. By doing these steps I feel it decreased the dryness of the lipstick and made it more comfortable while wearing it all day. If you feel it is getting too dry you could also apply a lip gloss over it, but that will get rid of it being a matte formula.

Would I repurchase? Yes I would. I want to try more Colourpop liquid lipsticks in the future due to the price point and wide variety of colors available. I would recommend reading reviews on each individual shade before purchasing.
