OGX - Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Shampoo and Conditioner Review

OGX - Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Earlier this week I had ran out of conditioner for my hair and was looking to try something new instead of using my go-to Bed Head Re-Energized Shampoo and Conditioner. Mind you, I really like the Bed Head product, but I was feeling a little adventurous and had wanted to try and find something better. As a result I had made a post in Facebook groups asking ladies to recommend what they use themselves.
My hair in retrospect is extremely long being 4-5 inches past my butt. My hair can get oily at the scalp, is normally dry at the ends, and just overall needs something to give it a good ol' boost.
One of the ladies recommended the OGX Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Shampoo and Conditioner. In the past I have really wanted to try OGX but never knew exactly which one to try since my hair was both oily and dry at the same time.

The Claims:
Shampoo: "Heals brittle, frizzy, unruly hair by penetrating each shaft with moisture. The result is soft, touchable, bouny, shiny hair from roots to ends.
Conditioner: "This exclusive formula repairs brittle, frizzy, unruly hair by penetrating each shaft with moisture while refreshing your scalp and removing build up. The result is soft, touchable, bouncy, shiny hair from roots to ends.

My Experience:
So when using this product I must say that a little goes a long way and that less is more. I used less product than I normally would have with my Bed Head shampoo and conditioner. The formula for both the shampoo and conditioner is thick but not super thick, nor super runny (like ones that are mostly water). It has a great consitency and I was overall impressed with it.
I must also mention that the smell is not super fragrant, and that it does not have a 'fake' smell to it. Its not something super potent nor does it linger too long, which is something I prefer for my hair care and body care products. I would say that the smell isnt feminine, but has a really refreshing smell (ill be honest I love the smell of it) and that either men or women could use this product if they are worried about the fragrance. My boyfriend didn't seem to mind it either haha.
When using this product the conditioner was extremely impressive to me, it worked well into my hair without using tons of product. I made sure to leave it in for roughly 10 minutes or so just to make sure that it was going to moisturize my ends.
After I got out of the shower and put my hair up in a towel (no heat styling or blow drying for this girl!) it took less time for my hair to dry than normal. Usually my hair takes roughly 3 hours to fully air dry, but I would say that this took around 90 minutes or so, which made me extremely impressed.

The next day after using this product my hair is less frizzy than normal, super soft, a bit shiny, and less tangled than normal. It feels more hydrated than normal and my ends do not feel as though they are lacking moisture. Normally I am unable to run my fingers through my hair without hitting a knot, but with this product it seems that I am able to do that. Brushing my hair was also a breeze this morning once I got up and it took less time than normal (I use a Wet Brush if anyone is curious)  However I do not feel that it gave me volume what so ever if that is something that is a selling point to you.

Recommendation:
I honestly really recommend this product. I think for the price and availability that it is overall wonderful. It made my hair feel a lot better than it normally does and also decreased on the dryness along with tangliness that my hair usually is. My hair feels overall more healthy and maintainable after using this product. Though I would also try it on sale like me since its a better price.

Pros:
- Drugstore availability
- Not animal tested
- Eco-friendly
- Not super potent fragrance
- Moisturizing but not greasy
- Decrease on tangles
- No frizz
- Easier to brush my hair
- Healthier looking hair
- Do not need to use a lot of product

Cons:
- Slightly expensive for a drugstore product being at $7.99 a bottle for only 13 oz. of product
- Not dye free
